Exhibition: Portraits of Schenectady

    Improve listing Presented by

This exhibit features twenty paintings of Schenectady citizens from the 19th and 20th centuries. These portraits were chosen for their vibrancy and personality, and most have not been on display in many years. The works of local artists Ezra Ames and John Wilkie and H. M. Mott-Smith are included, as well as four sets of husband and wife portraits (including Governor Joseph Yates and Elizabeth Delancey Yates and Jay and Charlotte Jackson Cady). We are pleased to share our newest addition, a portrait of Jacob Vandenberg Vrooman (1826-1904). This painting was donated by the William Vrooman II family, who drove all the way from Virginia to deliver the painting.
