    Improve listing Presented by

Families are invited to learn all about natural dyes during a hands-on Dye Pot Day at the 1677 Harlow House, 119 Sandwich Street, on Saturday, May 19th from 10 am to 2 pm. Sponsored by the Plymouth Antiquarian Society, the event is free and open to the public. Spinners and crafters of the Harlow House Fiber Guild will prepare simmering dye pots with natural materials such as madder root, dyer's broom, safflower, coreopsis, and marigold. A special activity is dyeing with indigo, which transforms from a green-yellow color in the pot to a brilliant blue when exposed to air. Activities for children include dyeing a skein with Jello or creating a felted ornament to take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free tours of the historic Harlow House are also available. No reservations necessary - just come on by!
