Join us as we celebrate Black History Month. We will unveil one of the Delaware Historical Society’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Quilts after a year-long Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration project.  In 2013 the Delaware Historical Society visited local churches, schools, and community centers throughout the state to discuss Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and view his famous I Have a Dream speech, delivered fifty years before at the March on Washington. We asked children and adults to design a quilt square that symbolized what Dr. King’s legacy means to them. A Stitch in Time Quilting Guild  of Dover volunteered to create 6 quilts, incorporating over 200 quilt squares designed by individuals throughout the state.  The quilts will travel to venues throughout the state to remind us of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. beginning in 2014.

Following the unveiling, there will  be a special curator’s tour of the Delaware History Museum’s Forging Faith, Building Freedom.
