The Idaho State Historical Society will host the event at the Idaho State Archives Research Center; 2205 Old Penitentiary Road; Boise, Idaho, on Saturday, February 8, 2014, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jackson Lee Davis, better known as Diamondfield Jack, has been a fascination in Southern Idaho for over 115 years. There are songs written about him, even a campground. Davis found his way into the lives of more than one prominent Idahoan, including William Borah and James Hawley. Incarcerated for a double murder, Jack witnessed public opinion gradually shift regarding his conviction. Twice execution was delayed. But what became of Diamondfield Jack? In his book Diamondfield: Finding the Real Jack Davis, Max Black uncovers new evidence about the case which landed Jackson Lee Davis on death row and the adventures that followed his pardon in December, 1902.
