The West Bloomfield Township Public Library presents “Detroit: Early America’s Frontier Seaport.” Detroit developed from a French fur-trade outpost into a thriving American port town. Historian Catherine Cangany, who holds a PhD from the University of Michigan and is an assistant professor of history at the University of Notre Dame, explores how Detroit’s ties to the frontier led to city’s rise.
