Ventfort Hall is delighted to announce the opening of an original play for its annual summer theatrical production. Written by Mary Guzzy, the new one-woman play Clara presents the intriguing Clara Schumann (1827–1897) wife of Robert Schumann, mother of eight, distinguished pianist, composer, and lifelong friend of Johannes Brahms.

The play showcases Clara’s musical talent and artistry alongside the personal saga of her marriage to Robert Schumann and friendship with Johannes Brahms. Despite the demands of marriage and motherhood, she cultivated a distinguished musical career and legacy of her own. During her life, Clara was accepted and declared one of the greatest pianists of the Romantic Era, a rare feat for a woman of the Gilded Age.
