The History Center will host a beginning Cherokee pottery class with Victoria Mitchell, Cherokee potter and Cherokee National Living Treasure. Class registration pays for all materials necessary to produce a traditional Cherokee coiled vessel. Class size is limited to just 12 participants to allow one-on-one instruction with the instructor.

Victoria will demonstrate techniques including Cherokee stamping design and discuss southeastern style traditional pottery. Each student will complete a coil vessel and decorate it with tools provided. You may leave your finished piece at the museum to be fired and picked up at a later date, or you may transport it to dry and make arrangements to fire the piece on your own.
