Charleston Tea Party, 1774

Wed. Dec 5, 6 pm

Boston had its famous Tea Party in December 1773. Charleston would have a series of opportunities to replicate the northerners efforts; however, almost a full, frustrating year would pass before the stars aligned for the city's patriots.

John Young grew up on a dairy farm in northeastern Vermont. He graduated from the University of Vermont, in Burlington, with a B.S. in Social Sciences. He and his family moved to Charleston 18 years ago, and after four years in a variety of jobs, went to work at the Old Exchange. He later became tour guide and currently works at The Powder Magazine. Two years ago, his book, A Walk in the Parks, was published. During his research on the Old Exchange, he became fascinated with the Charleston Tea Party.
