Causes of the U.S.- Dakota War of 1862 and Battlefield Tour

Independent historian John LaBatte will examine the causes of the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, drawing on personal stories from his Dakota and settler ancestors. At 2:30 p.m. LaBatte will lead a tour of the parade grounds, where visitors will meet up with the New Ulm Battery as they demonstrate canon fire.
