Bristol BookFest, 2020

BristolBookFest is a free, two-day public humanities program on the last weekend in March devoted to a close reading of a major literary text. An intellectually challenging event that brings together serious general readers with scholars in the fields of literature, history, political science, and film — all in a welcoming and sociable atmosphere. Explore close readings, reflections and discourse of All the King’s Men with scholars and literary-minded audiences from Rhode Island and beyond. Build bridges between times, places, and people as we explore themes that include populism, politics and power, slavery and race, media and public perception, education and transformation, and loyalty, friendship, and betrayal. Event Schedule Friday 5 pm — Evening Keynote Saturday 9-3 pm — Program of speakers, panels and small group discussions Scheduled to be held at Linden Place. The Friday keynote and Saturday program are free and open to the public but as space is limited, ticketed registration will be required. OPTIONAL DRINKS AND DINNER Friday 6 pm — Reception at Rogers Free Library free and open to all with refreshments and the opportunity to mingle. Friday 7:30 pm — Founder’s Dinner at DeWolf Tavern for speakers and paid guests — a Cajun/Creole immersion into culinary themes created by Chef Sai Viswanath. In a dining experience enhanced with period music, the conversation continues as scholars, speakers, writers and readers at every table offer an opportunity to meet and share stories, thoughts and insights, to make new connections and, perhaps, to forge new friendships.
