The Michigan Historical Museum presents the exhibit “Bottoms Up: The End of Prohibition and Return of Legal Alcoholic Beverages.” For a nearly 14-year period in the early twentieth century, the manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol was illegal in the United States. December 2013 marked the 80th anniversary of the constitutional amendment that brought this era known as Prohibition to an end. This exhibit takes a look at the last days of Prohibition in Michigan and the rebirth of the state's alcohol industry.
