To commemorate the 40th annual Dragon Boat Festival, which takes place at Weeks Foot Bridge on the Charles River and Memorial Drive on Sunday, June 9, a special exhibit of Longquan celadon porcelain will be on display at the Forbes House Museum from June 10-14.

Longquan is a small city in Southeast China’s Zhejiang Province, known for excellence in two things: sword-making and celadon porcelain. Its signature porcelain has a beautiful blue-green or gray-green hue, created using ancient glaze recipes and firing techniques that were first introduced nearly two thousand years ago. Some of the top artisans from China, most with UNESCO intangible cultural heritage status, will be at the Forbes House to demonstrate their specialized art-making skills for one day only, on June 10.

Extended exhibit hours for the week are as follows: Monday, June 10, artists workshop, 1:00-5:00 pm; Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11 and 12, 1:00-7:00 pm; Thursday, June 13, 1:00-5:00 pm; Friday, June 14, 10:00-12:00 noon.
