Artistic History: Inspiring Art & Creativity (Art Camp)

For centuries, artists from around the world have been inspired by the Hudson Valley, its scenic views, and quaint colonial history. Now it’s your turn!

Campers are invited to artistically interpret Historic Huguenot Street through the means of paint, photography, sculpture, and more.

Each day campers will explore a new artistic medium, and will put technique and practice to use. Campers will be inspired by the landscape, historic homes, and other visual art on-site.

Additional time will be spent on historic crafts, indoor and outdoor games, related educational activities, and tours of the historic site. The week concludes with a camper-created exhibit of the art they’ve created, which all participants and family members are invited to attend.

On the following Saturday, August 9th, all campers and their families are invited to attend Artists On The Street, a public event where local artists are invited to set up on site and use our historic setting as inspiration for art.

Cost/Tickets/Registration

To register for camp, please download the Registration Packet and Consent Form (via huguenotstreet.org/camp-huguenot) and return completed registration, medical, and permission and release forms. Our Parent Information packet contains all the necessary information to prepare your child to attend our camp.

A $100 deposit per camper per week is required upon registering. No camper will be admitted to camp without signed medical, permission, and release forms.

Tuition & Fees

Weeks can be purchased one, two, or three at a time depending on participants’ interest.

Members of Historic Huguenot Street $250/week

After Care is also available until 4 PM for an additional fee.

50% refund available for written cancellations received by June 15th

Camps are limited to 12 registrants per week.

Directions/Transportation/Parking

GPS Device: Enter "81 Huguenot Street, New Paltz, NY" as the address for Historic Huguenot Street. Our visitor parking lot is located on Broadhead Street.

From New York City and points south: New York State Thruway (I-87) north to Exit 18, make a left onto Route 299. Travel west on Route 299. At the fourth traffic light, make a right onto Route 32 North. Turn left onto North Front Street at next light. Follow signs to parking.

From Albany and points north: New York State Thruway (I-87) south to Exit 18 to Route 299, or Route 9W south to Route 299 west. Travel west on Route 299. At the fifth traffic light, make a right onto Route 32 North. Turn left onto North Front Street at next light. Follow signs to parking.

From the west: Route 44/55 to Route 299 east. After the bridge, go to traffic light and make a left onto Route 32 North. Turn left onto North Front Street at next light. Follow signs to parking. Or Route 84 to the New York State Thruway (I-87) North. Get off the Thruway at exit 18 and make a left onto Route 299. Travel west on Route 299. At the fourth traffic light, make a right onto Route 32 North. Turn left onto North Front Street at next light. Follow signs to parking.

From the east: Route 84 west to the New York State Thruway (I-87) north to Exit 18. Make a left onto Route 299. Travel west on Route 299. At the fourth traffic light, make a right onto Route 32 North. Turn left onto North Front Street at next light. Follow signs to parking.
