A Fugitive Slave and a Boulder Family Archive - History Colorado Center

Tuesday, November 20, 2012 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm and 7:00pm-8:00pm

Duke historian Sydney Nathans shares a previously hidden Civil War-era epic: the story of a fugitive slave and a white antislavery couple who sought to recover the rest of her family from bondage.  Nathans discovered an archival gold mine of 70,000 privately held letters in Boulder that helped him piece together the story. Join him as he discusses his book, To Free a Family: The Journey of Mary Walker.
