2019 MA Historic Preservation Conference

Preservation Massachusetts and our Conference Planning Committee are seeking suggestions for sessions, tours, and presenters for the 2019 Statewide Historic Preservation Conference, to be held on Friday, September 20, 2019, at the Hotel 1620 in Plymouth, Mass. This biennial statewide conference is an important opportunity to bring together those involved with preservation, community, advocacy, and history to learn, share, mentor, and network.  

The theme of the 2019 conference is “Untold Stories in Preservation”―we will examine the ways in which historic preservation can reflect the many histories encapsulated within our communities and how those stories are interpreted and presented.  

Proposed sessions should reflect the theme of the conference―either through a model project or discussion of emerging trends, issues, challenges, etc. Possibilities include but are not limited to:   
● best practices and case studies;   
● educational sessions for important programs and/or emerging technologies;   
● “how-to” of technical preservation; and  
● preservation practices.  

Proposed tours should include proposed sites, routes, and tour leaders along with method of transportation (walking, bus, etc.) from the conference site at Hotel 1620.  

DEADLINE: May 1, 2019 

Submit session and tour proposals and ideas to Julie Roper, Conference Planner, by May 1, 2019. (jroper@preservationmass.org

Please include:  
● proposed title or theme of session or tour;  
● suggested speakers or tour leaders;  
● brief description of session, identifying the intended audience;  
● goals of the session and how it relates to the theme of Untold Stories in Preservation ; and  
● your contact name, phone number, and email address.
