Please join us on September 25th as Richard Gnatowski talks about how agriculture helped shape the community we live in today.    For many years Richard was the miller at the Wayside Gristmill.  He has many stories to tell, but will focus on the late 1700s.

"The central fact of our history is that most of our ancestors were either directly or indirectly engaged in agriculture, yet little agricultural history is studied in our schools and colleges.  This presentation will illuminate some topics that I have found interesting and amusing in the mid to late18th century here in Massachusetts. For starters, have you ever thought about the influence of the humble turnip on progressive farming practices as well as the American Revolution.  I did not think so, but you might find this bit of seeming irrelevance more interesting than you could imagine."
