Join Prof. Tripp Evans, author of The Importance of Being Furnished: Four Bachelors at Home (Rowman and Littlefield, 2024), for a spirited dive into the aesthetic and romantic worlds of Charles Hammond Gibson and his contemporaries. This program will also provide a preview of the exhibition of the same title, opening June 20, sponsored by Historic New England at the Eustis Estate (Milton MA).

Dr. R. Tripp Evans is a professor of the History of Art at Wheaton College specializing in American art and architecture, with a focus on the material culture of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Providence Athenaeum in Providence, Rhode Island, and in 2017 he was appointed to the Rhode Island State Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission.
